Collections[English Version]
Primer is a 2004 film written, directed, produced and acted by Shane Carruth. Tells the story of Four men work in a garage building highly complex appliances. Part by accident and part by design, they discover a mechanism with powers that allows them to get practically everything they want: A Time Travel Machine.
Now, some of you would think that's going to be another of those works which use time-travel like a cheap way of solving everything, and those having no tension or consistency whatsover (Examples: Mirrai Nikki, Dragon Ball Super, Looper, Kimi no Nawa, etc), but, this movie is not the case.
For started, It is noticeable that Shane Carruth was someone dedicated in the project to see not only his contribution in direction and writing, but also in acting, sound, editing and producing it, using everything he had at hand with his limited budget of 7000 dollars. All this make the visuals very impressive for a film with this budget, along side with a cinematography and soundtrack that matches the tone of the movie. Also, for been an indepedent film, most of the actors played really well their rolls.
As for the story itself, it presents the concept of time travel in a very subtle way, also its noticeable the attention to the scientific part of the time travel, being very attached to the laws of physics, which felt plausible to me and most I asked about it said it’s true to a large degree. This makes the time travel to have scientific bases and been fairy accurate to his establish rules, also showing on screen the consequences it can bring to people who have it. Sadly not everything is perfect: Besides the main duo (Aaron and Abe) the rest of the cast are no more than functional to the film's plot, the pacing is slow as snail taking a lot of time (like 30/45 minutes or so) on presenting the central conflict of the movie, futhermore, because of the narrative strecture that the film has, the story that creates will leave you confused before you even really understand it. And yes, the ending gives a good message about the distrust, but it hard to figure out the first time watching it
But, overall, if you are interested in science fiction, independent cinema or you just want a movie that makes you think for a good time, Primer would not disappoint you at all.

Primer es una película de 2004 escrita, dirigida, producida y actuada por Shane Carruth. Cuenta la historia de cuatro hombres que trabajan en un garaje construyendo aparatos muy complejos. A causa de un accidente y en parte por diseño, descubren un mecanismo con poderes que les permite conseguir prácticamente todo lo que quieren: Una máquina para viajar en el tiempo.
Ahora, algunos de ustedes pensarán que va a ser otra de esas obras que usan el tiempo de viaje como una manera barata de resolver todo, y aquellos que no tienen tensión o consistencia en absoluto (Ejemplos: Mirrai Nikki, Dragon Ball Super, Looper, Kimi no Nawa , Etc), pero, esta película no es el caso.
Para empezar, es notable que Shane Carruth fue alguien dedicado en el proyecto a ver no sólo su contribución en dirección y guion, sino también en actuación, sonido, edición y producción, utilizando todo lo que tenía a mano con su presupuesto limitado de 7000 Dólares. Todo esto hace las imágenes muy impresionantes para una película con este presupuesto, junto con una cinematografía y una banda sonora que coincide con el tono de la película. Además, por ser una película independiente, la mayoría de los actores jugaban muy bien sus roles.
En cuanto a la historia en sí, presenta el concepto de viaje en el tiempo de una manera muy sutil, también es notable la atención a la parte científica de los viajes en el tiempo, muy atado a las leyes de la física, que me pareció plausible y la mayoría de gente a la que pregunte acerca de esto me dijo que es cierto en gran medida. Esto hace que el tiempo viaje para tener bases científicas y sea mas preciso al establecer reglas. Por desgracia, no todo es perfecto: además del dúo principal (Aaron y Abe) el resto del elenco no son más que funcional a la trama de la película, el ritmo es lento como caracol tomar mucho tiempo (como 30/45 minutos o menos) Sobre la presentación del conflicto central de la película, además, debido a la narrativa que la película tiene, la historia que crea te dejará confundido antes de que incluso lo entiendas realmente. Y sí, el final da un buen mensaje sobre la desconfianza, pero es difícil de averiguar la primera vez que lo ves.
Pero, en general, si te interesa la ciencia ficción, el cine independiente o simplemente quieres una película que te hace pensar por un buen momento, Primer no te decepcionará en absoluto.

(A review of Katanagatari)[English Version]
Katanagatari (translated to English as Swordstory) is an anime aired during the year of 2010, tells the story of one guy (Shichika Yasuri, a swordsman) and one girl (Togame, an ambitious strategist) in a quest to find twelve magic swords, during the Japanese medieval era. Although this sounds simple or even generic on paper, the way that plays out on screen it's actually very creative.
To start with, I should point out the strongest point of the show: The characters.
The main duo (Shichika and Togame) have well-defined personalities and share a very well hanged realitionship on screen, although at first they feel like a tsundere and a blockhead relationship, by the end of the serie they are given so much insight and their relationship is explored in one of the strangest but touching ways that exist. Their share a very well build chemistry though the anime.
The rest of the cast remindes solid though at the show. All have a really strong presence on screen, they all have their set of attacks, their have they time with the protagonists ,their motivations are clear, we know their past, their personalities are very unique, most of the time proof to be a challenge for the Duo, and even we fell sorry by the death of some of the villians.
As for the story itself, is not mega deep or anything, but it is a pretty good one and above is very balanced. The dialogues are delivered in a smart way making the jokes funnier, the Setting is fairly well presented (and has some historical accuracy as far as I know) plus it has a notable impact on the cast not leaving this element just as decoration, the plot follows a episodic structure most of the time with formula of "villian of the week" (or should I said Month in this case?) but its executed so well that the stories blows the mind sometimes (futhermore the way that they all conect towards the end), the pacing is slow mostly because of the length of the episodes (50 minutes) and the amount of dialogue presented on it, so it can be tired for some to watch it.
The visuals are very nice in general: The battles (altough most of them are short) they are really well directed, the animation most of the time is good, the artstyle (even though there are very simple) match with the style of the show in the sense that they do not clash when they enter comedy or when there is action or when there are serious moments, it remains like a ring finger. The music also helps fitting with the feeling of the series by having traditional japanese style songs.
Conclusion: Maybe some of you don't keep track of the show, since don’t find the comedy good because it’s not the usual juvenile variant. There are even those who find the ending to be a troll or find it to be empty for his simplistic plot with little action for a samurai story. I am not one of those people since I liked how the episodes there played-out, the ending (even though it's unexpectated) it serves to give more impact to the message about love in a "tragic sense" without reaching the limits, different from most of his kind.
Leaving his problems aside, I find it to be an amazing series, and it deserves a solid 8/10. Easily one of my favorite anime of all time

Katanagatari (literalmente traducido al español como "Historia de espadas") es un anime transmitido durante el año de 2010, cuenta la historia de un chico (Shichika Yasuri, un espadachín) y una chica (Togame, un estratega ambiciosa) en una búsqueda para encontrar doce espadas mágicas, durante la era medieval japonesa. Aunque esto suene simple o incluso genérico en papel, la manera que juega hacia fuera en la pantalla es realmente muy creativo.
Para empezar, debo señalar el punto más fuerte de la serie: Los personajes.
El dúo principal (Shichika y Togame) tiene personalidades bien definidas y comparte un relación muy manejada en pantalla, aunque al principio se sienten como una relación de tsundere y un cabeza hueca, al final de la serie se les da tanta comprensión y su relación se explora en una de las maneras más extrañas pero conmovedoras que existen. Comparten una química muy bien construir a través del anime.
El resto del reparto recuerda sólido durante el show. Todos tienen una presencia muy fuerte en pantalla, todos ellos tienen su conjunto de ataques, poseen su tiempo con los protagonistas, sus motivaciones son claras, sabemos su pasado, sus personalidades son muy únicas, la mayoría de las veces prueba de ser un reto Para el dúo, e incluso nos sentimos lástima por la muerte de algunos de los villanos.
En cuanto a la historia en sí, no es mega profunda o nada, pero es una muy buena y por encima de es muy equilibrado. Los diálogos se entregan de una manera inteligente haciendo las bromas más divertidos, el ajuste es bastante bien presentado (y tiene cierta exactitud histórica por lo que sé) más él tiene un impacto notable en el molde que no deja este elemento apenas como decoración , La trama sigue una estructura episódica la mayor parte del tiempo con la fórmula de "villano de la semana" (o debería decir Mes en este caso?) Pero su ejecución tan bien que las historias sopla la mente a veces (mas aun la forma en que todos ellos se conectan hacia el final), el ritmo es lento debido principalmente a la duración de los episodios (50 minutos) y la cantidad de diálogo presentado en éstos, por lo que puede estar cansado para que algunos lo vean.
A nivel general, lo visual es muy bonito: Las batallas (aunque la mayoría de ellas son cortas) son muy bien dirigidas, la animación es buena la mayoría del tiempo, el estilo artístico (aunque hay muy simple) coincide con el estilo del show, en el sentido de que no chocan cuando entran en comedia o cuando hay acción o cuando hay momentos serios, permanece como anillo al dedo . La música también ayuda a encajar con la sensación de la serie por tener canciones tradicionales de estilo japonés.
Conclusión: Tal vez algunos de ustedes no siguen el programa, ya que no encuentran la comedia buena porque no es la variante juvenil habitual. Incluso hay quienes encuentran que el final es un troll o lo encuentran vacío por su trama simplista con poca acción para una serie de samurais. No soy una de esas personas ya que me gustó cómo los episodios fueron ejecutados, sus mensajes que dieron, el final (aunque es inesperado y parece salir de la nada) sirve para dar más impacto al mensaje sobre el amor en un "sentido trágico" sin llegar a los límites, diferente a la mayoría de su clase.
Dejando sus problemas algo obvios de lado, me parece una serie increíble, y se merece un sólido 8/10. Fácilmente uno de mis animes favoritos de todos los tiempos.

There are many reasons of why I consider this to be my favorite cartoon of all time and holds a 9/10 on my list of cartoons.
Although it is truth that has few problems, like the ambiguity in some part of the plot that does not explain in detail due to its short duration or the type of narrative that the show has would probably would not appeal to everyone (been this a mix between both lineal and episodice structure).
But, leaving it aside, everything else is flawless: The Setting of the show is very well presented, the animation and character design are really well made (all been a little tribute to cartoons of the past and child fairy tales), the music (and also the voice acting on both spanish and english) rivals that of high budget movies.
The history, although having his ambiguity in some parts, it's very creative with his premise and setting, having a cast of very well writing characters, some great influences on both child fairy tales and Dante's Infierno, adventures on each episode tht works excelent on both standalone stories, and a wonderful ending with some of the best plot twist i had ever seen.
Maybe, some would say that it's not the great masterpiece that I say it is, but that if I am sure that is the most remarkable that has done Western animation in recent years and this worth watching.

Hay muchas razones de por qué considero que esta es mi caricatura favorita de todos los tiempos y tiene un 9/10 en mi lista de caricaturas.
A pesar de que es verdad que tiene sus problemas, como la ambigüedad en algunas partes de la trama que no explica en detalle debido a su corta duración o el tipo de narrativa que tiene el show probablemente no sera del agrado para todo el mundo )siendo una mezcla entre estructura lineal y episódica).
Pero, dejándolo a un lado, todo lo demás es impecable: La ambientación del show están muy bien presentados, la animación y el diseño de los personajes están muy bien hechos (todos han sido un pequeño homenaje a los dibujos animados del pasado y los cuentos infantiles), la música (y también la actuación de voz tanto en español como en inglés) rivaliza con las de películas de alto presupuesto.
La historia, aunque tiene ambigüedad en algunas partes, es muy creativa con su premisa y escenario, teniendo un elenco de muy buenos personajes de escritura, algunas grandes influencias tanto en cuentos de hadas infantiles como del Infierno de Dante, las aventuras de cada episodio son excelentes como historias independientes, y un final maravilloso con uno de los mejores giros de la trama que haya visto.
Tal vez, algunos dirían que no es la gran obra maestra que digo que es, pero que si estoy seguro de que es el más notable que ha hecho la animación occidental en los últimos años y esto vale la pena ver.
